Timothy Riffe at the University of California

Timothy Riffe, Pre-Doctorate scholar financed by the Generalitat de Catalunya at the CED, will stay, until the end of this year, at the Department of Demography of the University of California (Berkeley). His research will be related to the Human Mortality Database-HMD, an important database that contains mortality data from 14 countries.

Timothy Riffe came to the CED in 2008 from the University of Michigan to do a Master’s Degree in Territorial Studies and Population-Demography and then a PhD in Demography. With Dr. Albert Esteve as his director, he is completing his doctoral thesis, The Two-Sex Problem in Demography. He collaborates on the project Towards a Unified Analysis of World Population: Family Patterns in Multilevel Perspective (StG) and, in R+D, Inmigración internacional y familia en España: trayectorias de pareja en perspectiva transnacional (International migration and family in Spain: pathways to union formation in transnational perspective), which are also directed by Dr. Albert Esteve.
