Without Boundaries-DwB. Call: "Support for transnational access to official
microdata"
The
CED is taking part in the project Data Without Boundaries-DwB (2011-2015),
which is funded by the European Commission FP7 Infrastructures programme.
The consortium, consisting of 28 members, is coordinated by the Centre
National de la Recherche Scientifique-CNRS of France. Albert Esteve is
the CED's chief researcher in the project.
The
call for entries in the "Support
for Transnational Access to Official Microdata - Call for Research Proposals
under the FP7 EU Project Data without Boundaries (DwB)", which
is part of the Data without Boundaries-DwB project, will be open
until 15 May 2012 and offers the possibility of visits for researchers
interested in working in different Centres
and with official microdata.

the year 2012-2013, the CED is again hosting the
European Doctoral School of Demography
(EDSD), 8th Edition.

applications were submitted by students from 35 different
countries. The
selection to fill the 18 places offered by this doctoral program
will be carried out during the month of May, through an International
Evaluation Committee.

Xiana Bueno finishes her stay at Harvard University
Xiana
Bueno, a CED researcher has ended her three-month post-doctoral stay at
the Department
of Sociology, Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
She has worked on the project "Gender Equity and Fertility in Postindustrial
Societies", which is headed by Professor Mary Brinton.
Joana Serret visits the MPIDR
Joana
Serret, a doctoral student in Demography at the CED and grant holder of
the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports University Teacher Training
Programme will be visiting the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research-MPIDR
in Rostock (Germany) from 7-19 May 2012 under the auspices of the Demo-Doc
Network initiative.

| DEMOGRAPHY
IN SECONDARY EDUCATION |
The CED is conducting
a program on science diffusion where the aim is to bring the studies in
demography closer to high school students.
Anna
Cabré in IES Can Jofresa in Terrassa
On the 17th of April,
Anna Cabré gave a conference at the IES Can Jofresa, in Terrassa, in front
of 60 A-level students. This activity is inscribed within the Knowledge
Exhibition, organized by the Municipality of Terrassa, which has the objective
of bringing closer universities, research, innovation and knowledge to
secondary schools.
Students
from the Secondary School Taradell visited the CED
On the 25th of April,
the CED welcomed two groups of 3rd of ESO students from IES Taradell (Osona).
After visiting the facilities of the CED, there was a presentation regarding
the studies in demography and the research that is being done in this
centre. These students also visited the Department of Geography of the
UAB.
